With a weeklong slate of events including lectures, a resource fair, and a movie screening, Caltech will celebrate Earth Week, an international observance to demonstrate support for environmental protection, from April 22–26.
The week's highlights include:
the Chen-Huang Sustainability Series Lecture, featuring Terry Tamminen, CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and former California Environmental Protection Agency secretary, discussing the state's successful policies;
a Watson Lecture by Tapio Schneider on "Clouds and Climate Tipping Points"; and
a screening of SILA and the Gatekeepers of the Arctic, a documentary chronicling the impacts of a warming climate on indigenous populations in the Arctic.
To coincide with Earth Day, Caltech has released its annual sustainability report today, available here. The document highlights the Institute's environmental performance in fiscal year 2018 as well as key activities undertaken to enhance campus sustainability.
